I purchased this for my 1993 Range Rover classic 4.2L engine. I noticed that the reluctor magnet assembly inside seemed to have a light coating of corrosion. It's raw steel and a ferrite magnet so it didn't seem beyond reason it would corrode a little. I installed the distributor and didn't get any spark. The old dizzy that was broken still put out a spark before I removed it. I tried swapping the ignition modules and every other check I could think of. Checked for power to the unit and it had power. Finally I removed the "do not remove, set at factory" plastic cover to check the air gap. Air gap was well over .020". The gap should be something like .010". I doubt it could make a spark with a gap that large. I loosened the two small nuts that hold the sensor in place so I could adjust the air gap. Unfortunately the metal plate that is attached to the sensor, and the magnets themselves, are all fused (rusted?) to the mounting plate. No way to adjust it. Returned as defective. Of course I got the last one, so 3-4 weeks estimated for another. Can't wait that long, will be ordering from somewhere else.
